The Joy of Seasoning

The Joy of Seasoning

I love food. I really do. What I’m not, however, is obsessed with it.

I don’t mean obsessed in the traditional way, that comes with all kinds of negative connotations, but obsessed in the positive way where the definition is an idea or thought that continually preoccupies a person’s mind.

To me, this is synonymous with passion.

I love people who are passionate about food – the ones who hunt down the best quality herbs and spices and blend their own seasoning; the ones who can craft new flavours from scratch.

But I am not one of those people. (Are you?)

That’s why I fell in love – so hard – with Epicure and their clean seasonings. Once I discovered what was often in my grocery store seasonings, I realized I needed to find something better – better ingredients and better growing processes.

If you’re not familiar with Epicure, it is a company obsessed with providing the highest quality seasonings and ingredients – gluten-free, nut-free, non-GMO, low-sodium, and additive free. (Check out their list of additives that will “never, ever” end up in their products right here.)

More than clean eating, Epicure’s products have allowed me to completely change my family’s relationship with food. We meal plan and prep with ease, and most of our meals go from pan to table in 20 minutes.

I started using Epicure’s products because they were good for my body, but I keep using them because they allow me so much flexibility in the creative process of cooking!

Chickpea curry

More Than a Meal in a Jar

Every jar or package of Epicure blended seasonings comes with at least one recipe or meal idea on it. But there’s so much more than just one meal in a single jar – you can use them for so many more meals, you just have to get a little bit creative.

A great example of this is the Red or Green Curry Meal Solution. Of course, you can make a curry with the protein and veggies of your choice. Each change in fresh ingredients will bring a whole new flavour profile to the dish, but there’s so much more you can do!

Try the same seasoning package as a soup – like sweet and sour soup – or as a pizza seasoning, or as a dip or glaze.

Lemon Dilly & Lemon Pepper Wings

Endless Options

What this means for you, is that you get the experience of being a foodie who hunts for the best possible flavour profiles, but you don’t have to go farther than your pantry to find amazing things to combine.

Another one of my favourites is the Epicure Lemon Dilly seasoning. It’s made to be a dip or sauce and is a combination of the perfect proportions of black pepper, dill, garlic, lemon peel, onion, and parsley.

Certainly, this is a great and tasty dip. It’s perfect with veggies or based pita chips, but at my house we use it on almost everything we can think of. We put it on chicken wings, in potato salad, on chicken, and roasted veggies. One of our very favourites is the lemony chickpea salad. Recently, we discovered it makes a perfect glaze on salmon. We even make these amazing salmon appetizers as weeknight finger foods.

All that out of one jar of seasoning. It really is that easy to get creative with species and make delicious food you don’t get bored of.
